We had a great turnout at our first neighbourhood gathering. Thank you to all residents who showed up, and to all helping hands that made this event possible!
Residents had plenty of questions for the Ward 2 Councillors, Lianne Vardy and Dave Kadwell, which shared their views and some good information about the issues at hand. If we didn’t run out of daylight, the event could have easily lasted as long as a Committee of the Whole marathon, only much more civilized.
Yes, there was a lot of talk about the two condo applications on Main Street East that are allowed to continue their course while an HCD Study is underway, and the substantial increase in traffic in the area and beyond. How that will translate into action, given Council’s voting pattern and ongoing issues with Town’s Planning Department, is anybody’s guess right now.
We were happy to see Councillor Dave Sharpe, Mayor Jeff Jordan and Regional Councillor Wayne Fertich listening carefully to what was being discussed and taking notes. The issues discussed here will sure become election points for the next year.
